<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a user is prompted to toner exchange by reducing image density when toner is nearly ended and at the same time, an output image of a specified image density is immediately obtained when necessary. <P>SOLUTION: In the apparatus, a toner residue quantity detecting means 3, a writing pulse width varying means 5, a storing means 4 storing the writing pulse width corresponding to the image density and a control means 1 making image density thinner by varying the writing pulse width when the residue toner quantity is reduced and carrying out control to return the image density to what it formally was by returning the writing pulse width by toner replenishing are included. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
