PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigeration apparatus for a shipborne container which avoids low temperature injury of cargoes, and also provide its temperature control method. SOLUTION: This refrigeration apparatus is provided with: a first control means for comparing intake air temperature to a first target temperature and controlling a refrigeration unit to make them equal; a second control means for comparing flow out air temperature to a second target temperature which is lower than the first target temperature by a predetermined value, and for controlling to make them; equal and a switching means for switching the two control means. Control is started to bring the intake air temperature to the first target temperature by the first control unit. When the blowout air temperature reaches the second target temperature before the intake air temperature reaches the first target temperature, the first control means is changed over to the second control means for controlling to keep the blowout air temperature at the second target temperature. When a given time elapses or when the intake air temperature reaches the first target temperature, the second control means is changed over to the first control means to control the refrigeration unit.
