SUBSTANCE: electric insulator has central bearing member in the form of body of revolution, such as glass-reinforced plastic tube, and external sheath in the form of at least one spiral-cross layer of unidirectional fibrous material impregnated with polymeric binder and provided with external circular projections, or sheath disposed inside it and made in the form of at least one spiral-cross layer of unidirectional fibrous material impregnated with polymeric binder and provided with internal circular projections. Central bearing member may carry both sheath with external circular projections and that with internal circular projections.
