<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contra-pod propulsion device constituted to reduce lateral force Y by a part of drag V3 and lift L generated at a post 107 of a conventional pod propulsion device and to acquire thrust from a part of the lift. <P>SOLUTION: This contra-pod propulsion device 1 comprises a post 7 rotatably equipped at a ship bottom part 5 of the stem of a hull, vertically arranged from the ship bottom part 5 and used also as a rudder; a pod 11 including a propeller 9 equipped at the lower end of the post 7; and a fin 13 vertically provided from the lower part of the pod 11. The post 7 is formed in aerofoil shape and arranged so that a plane on one face 71 side of aerofoil shape faces the direction of upstream propeller flow V1u at the upper face of the pod 1. The fin 13 is formed in aerofoil shape and arranged so that a plane on one face 131 side of aerofoil shape faces the direction of downstream propeller flow V1d at the lower face of the pod 11. The post 7 and fin 13 are symmetrically provided in the aerofoil cross-sectional shape and arranged in aerofoil shape which restrains lateral force generated to each of them, and thrust is combined and used as driving force. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
