PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely display the names of things which continue such as roads, rivers, railways, etc., even if scale of a map is enlarged. SOLUTION: When a scale-of-display determining means 9 determines enlargement of map display, an intersection-of-side judgment means 12 judges whether or not a road on which a vehicle on board an apparatus runs intersects any side of display region of a display screen, on the basis of the display region and position data of the road. If the road intersects any side of the display region, a display control means 13 displays a roadname in the road side.
