<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which the mechanism of heat transfer in a piled raw-material layer on a movable hearth can be improved in the manufacture of reduced iron in a movable hearth type furnace and the productivity of the reduced iron can be improved. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the reduced metal by piling mixed raw materials containing metal oxide and a solid reducing agent on the movable hearth, heating and reducing the mixed raw materials while the movable hearth moves in the furnace, melting them at least once and then cooling them, mixed raw materials containing a metal prepared through a melting step are used as the above mixed raw materials. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
