PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carbon nanotube of a good quality and a fine graphite property in a good yield and without an almost amorphous carbon pile. SOLUTION: The carbon nanotube is manufactured by bringing a catalyst in which a metal is supported on an amorphous metallosilicate as a carrier into contact with a carbon containing compound at 500-1,200°C, more precisely, by bringing the catalyst in which the metal is supported on the surface of the crystal non-porous metallosilicate as a carrier into contact with the carbon containing compound at 500-1,200°C.
