PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an erosion-control dam capable of prolonging the period for using a dam and preventing a disaster of earth and sand for a long period. SOLUTION: In the erosion-control dam having a bank wall 11 constructed by crossing a mountainous region or a mountain torrent and damming an outflow of earth and sand flowing from the mountainous region or the upstream of the mountain torrent and an avalanche of earth and rocks by the bank wall 11, a through-hole 12 making the outflow of earth and sand and the avalanche of earth and rocks dammed by the bank wall flow to the downstream together with water is bored in the lower part of the bank wall 11, an opening and shutting device 13 is provided in the through-hole 12, at the same time, a water gauge 14 for detecting the water level on the outflow of earth and sand and the avalanche of earth and rocks dammed by the bank wall 11 is provided, and when the water gauge 14 detects such a fact that the water level on the outflow of earth and sand and the avalanche of earth and rocks rises up to a predetermined height, the opening and shutting device 13 is opened through a control device 18 so that the period for using the erosion-control dam can be prolonged, and the disaster of earth and sand can be prevented for a long period.
