PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tube that precludes risk of damage thereto even if the pneumatic tube laid between different buildings displays different behavior due to an earthquake or the like by allowing a part with a seismic isolation function of the pneumatic tube to absorb the behavior. SOLUTION: The pneumatic tube is laid to interconnect different buildings. When connecting pneumatic tubes 3 and 4 outside the buildings are connected to coupling parts 1a and 2a of pneumatic tube mounting bases 1 and 2 outside the respective buildings, connecting base parts 1b and 2b and the connecting pneumatic tubes 3 and 4, or the coupling parts 1a and 2a and the connecting base parts 1b and 2b are formed to a flexible connection free to incline circumferentially about the axis of the tube line. A variable mechanism is provided so as to vary the overall length of the connecting base parts 1b and 2b and the connecting pneumatic tubes 3 and 4. Normally, the tube line including the connecting pneumatic tubes 3 and 4 has no steps and holds a diameter region of the same diameter. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
