PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wide converter lens suitable for a zoom lens whose entire length is changed in zooming and having reduction magnification of about 0.8, and a lens system consisting of the wide converter lens and the zoom lens whose entire length is changed in zooming. SOLUTION: In the lens system consisting of the wide converter lens C and the zoom lens Z in order from an object side, the wide converter lens C can be attached to/detached from the zoom lens Z and has a function of shortening the focal distance of the zoom lens Z. The zoom lens Z has a moving lens group G1 nearest to the object side, and the moving lens group G1 moves toward the object side so as to reduce space between the wide converter lens C and the moving lens group G1 in the case of zooming from the wide angle end state to the telephoto end state of the zoom lens Z, then the lens system satisfies a specified conditional expression.
