PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound velocity measuring method and a sound velocity measuring device capable of determining highly accurately the sound velocity of amorphous material having an unfixed shape. SOLUTION: An ultrasonic wave is transmitted toward a sample 3 held in a medium 13, and a first phase difference of the ultrasonic wave 15 reflected by an interface 3a the medium and the sample generated by changing the sample 13 thickness and a second phase difference of the ultrasonic wave 16 propagated through the medium 13 and the sample 3 are determined. The sound velocity of the sample 3 is determined from the sound velocity of the medium 13 and the first and second phase differences. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
