PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for repairing a steel shell provided on a molten metal smelting furnace, which properly prevents regeneration of cracks of the steel shell after being repaired, and solves a major problem of stopping the operation of the smelting furnace. SOLUTION: A low melting point metal 2 including one or more kinds of materials consisting of lead or zinc is poured into an clearance opening before welding the steel shell, and the outside thereof is welded so as to be repaired.
