POLYAMIDE 4 DERIVATIVE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a star-shaped polyamide 4 derivative by polymerizing 2-pyrrolidone using an initiator which is a polycarboxylic acid derivative synthesized from various kinds of chelating agents such as ethylenediaminetetracetic acid or from a polyamine such as tetraethylenepentamine. SOLUTION: The star-shaped polyamide 4 derivative of a high molecular weight is produced under such a mild condition and a low consumption energy as a temperature of from room temperature to 50°C, by using 2-pyrrolidone as the basic polymerization catalyst and a polycarboxylic acid derivative as the polymerization initiator.
