PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rubber composition for a tire tread, stably improved in frictional performance on the ice. SOLUTION: This rubber composition for the tire tread contains 100 pts.wt. of a diene rubber and 1-30 pts.wt., in terms of an expanded graphite, of an oil-extended expanded graphite obtained by previously subjecting an expandable graphite having an intercalated substance capable of forming a gas by heat to cause expansion to oil extending by using an oily component in an amount 0.05- to 1.0-fold by weight.
