PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for automatic covering for a protective sheet which can select the adequate size of the sheet in accordance with size differences in products and carry out automatic action. SOLUTION: This apparatus is provided with a sheet supply unit SP for holding a stock sheet in which cylindrical sheets with different sizes are wound into a roll shape, a unit OC for covering action which grasps the lower end of the sheet and spreads it into a cylindrical shape and then moves it downward, thus covers a product with the spread cylindrical sheet, and a seal and cut unit SC for sealing and cutting the sheet. When the product to be covered is positioned almost at the center in a base frame F, the stock sheet is selected and the sheet supply unit is located so as to take a position which is right over the product. The positioned sheet is delivered to the unit OC for covering action through the inside of the seal and cut unit SC so as to spread into a cylindrical shape and cover the product. The upper part of the sheet covering the product is heat-sealed and cut by the action of the seal and cut unit. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
