PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet recorder in which intrusion of a bubble into the ink channel is prevented at the time of removing an ink supply body which can be fixed/removed directly from the outside. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder comprises a sheet feed tray for feeding a recording sheet disposed to direct from a specified side of the recorder body 14 toward the inside thereof, a sheet discharge tray for discharging a recorded recording sheet disposed to direct from the same side as the sheet feed tray toward the inside of the recorder, a section 13 being loaded removably with an ink cartridge 12 containing recording ink disposed to direct from the same side as the sheet feed tray toward the inside of the recorder, and a control section 27 for disabling removal of the ink cartridge 12 during an interval for prohibiting removal of the ink cartridge 12.
