<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for fermentatively producing poly-γglutamic acid more efficiently than conventional techniques. <P>SOLUTION: Poly-γ-glutamic acid is produced by culturing in a liquid medium microorganisms belonging to Bacillus and having a lowered or eliminated γ- polyglutamic acid degradation activity, for example Bacillus suppressing expression of a new gene encoding an end-type poly-γ-glutamic acid degradation activity and/or the known ggt gene, preparing and accumulating poly-γ-glutamic acid in the medium, and collecting poly-γ-glutamic acid. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
