<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating device and a coating method in which a damage to a coating surface is not occurred in the coating device and the coating method using a bar. <P>SOLUTION: The coating device has a coating liquid deposition means for depositing the coating liquid on at least one surface of a continuously traveling band-like body; a bar disposed on the downstream side as compared with the coating liquid deposition means in the traveling direction of the band-like body and adjusting the coating liquid deposited by the coating liquid deposition means to a constant thickness. The coating liquid deposition means is arranged on the upstream side of the bar in the traveling direction of the band-like body so as to be opposed to the bar and is provided with a primary weir-like member in which a liquid reservoir of the coating liquid is formed between the bar and the band-like body to deposit the coating liquid on the band-like body. A gap between the primary weir-like member and the bar is 2 mm or less. The coating method using the coating device is provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
