PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner capable of reliably protecting a motor. SOLUTION: The value of electric current flowing in a motor 23 is detected by an electric current sensor 27. When the value of electric current flowing in the motor 23 exceeds a threshold value more than the prescribed number of times within a set time, a control means 26 stops the driving of the motor 23. As the overloaded condition of the motor 23 is reliably detected by the control means 26 and the driving of the motor 23 can be stopped, the motor 23 can be more reliably protected. When the value of electric current flowing through the motor 23 exceeds a threshold value more than the prescribed number of times within a set time, the control means 26 reduces the driving of the motor 23. Since the control means 26 reliably can detect the overloaded condition of the motor 23 and reduce the driving of the motor 23, the motor 23 can be more reliably protected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
