PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide simple pet feeder which automatically opens a lid when a pet approaches the feeder to eat a feed, keeps the lid open when the pet is eating the feed and automatically closes the lid simultaneously when the pet finishes eating and leaves the feeder. SOLUTION: The pet feeder has constitution that a footboard (1) is arranged at a position in a fixed area in front of the feeder by noticing that when a pet eats a feed in the feeder, the forelegs of the pet are always placed at a position in the fixed area in front of the feeder, an arm rod (2) is fixed to the bottom of the footboard, the arm rod rotates a handle (11) which is linked to the opening and closing of a feeder lid (7) and rotated so as to open the feeder lid when the pet steps on the footboard, on the other hand, instantly when the pet finishes eating the feed and leaves the footboard, restoring force of a weighted pendulum or a spring is brought into action to automatically close the feeder lid.
