PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a splitting method for plastic sheet or plastic product not producing cracking, chipping, and delamination, in the method for splitting a plastic panel for display element with a rigidity increased by increasing size and fining by Thomson system, and a method of manufacturing a display element by using the method. SOLUTION: In this method for splitting a sheet formed mainly of plastic or a cell stacked by using the sheet as component member, cracking, chipping, and separation of cell (hereafter referred to as defective cutting) are prevented from occurring around a cutting part due to an unavoidable deformation stress by punching out, at once, the outer periphery of the shape of the sheet or cell after the splitting step is completed.
