PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment method of waste preventing that selenium is contained in drain discharged in the treatment process of waste such as soot and dust containing selenium and water soluble chlorine component and preventing that selenium is incorporated into chlorides when chlorine component contained in the waste is recovered as the chlorides. SOLUTION: This treatment method of waste comprises a process (A) of mixing waste and slurrying water in the presence of bivalent iron ion and slurrying the same, a process (B) of adjusting pH of slurry to 8-12 and obtaining the slurry consisting of solid component including ferrous hydroxide and selenium and liquid component including chlorine component, a solid-liquid separation process (C) of subjecting the slurry obtained in the process (B) to solid-liquid separation and a chlorine component recovering process (D) of recovering chlorine component as chloride from filtrate containing chlorine component obtained in the process (C).
