PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an activator coating method for water pressure transfer reducing the scattering of an activator, uniformizing the flying adhesion distribution of the activator to a water soluble multilayered film, setting the activator to a necessary amount and capable of reducing the environmental measure cost of a suction duct device, or the like, in water pressure transfer for overlaying a transfer receiving article with the water soluble multilayered film by pressing the surface of the transfer receiving article to the water soluble multilayered film after the water soluble multilayered film is coated with the activator, and a coating apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: The activator is allowed to continuously sag and run on the water soluble multilayered film 10 in a brush like state from a nozzle plate 7 having a plurality of jet orifices arranged linearly at a constant pitch and the nozzle plate 7 is moved above the water soluble multilayered film 10 to uniformly coat the water soluble multilayered film 10 with the activator.
