METHOD FOR REGENERATING CATALYST FOR PRODUCTION OF epsilon- CAPROLACTAM, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING epsilon-CAPROLACTAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a regenerated catalyst having excellent activity from a catalyst whose activity has been lowered during use in the Beckmann rearrangement reaction of cyclohexanone oxime in the vapor phase.

SOLUTION: A solid catalyst whose activity has been lowered during use in the Beckmann rearrangement reaction of cyclohexanone oxime in the vapor phase is fired at 400-600°C for ≥1 hr after firing at 200-400°C for ≥1 hr in an atmosphere of an oxygen-containing gas. When such a regeneration process is periodically carried out, ε-caprolactam can be produced in a high yield over a long period of time.
