PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an instrument for measuring a blood sugar level and a blood sugar level measuring method by which a measured blood sugar level can be corrected without imposing a burden on a subject. SOLUTION: An instrument 1 for blood sugar level measurement storing a concentration adjusted glucose solution 6 is irradiated with light, operation for measuring the concentration of glucose in the glucose solution from the transmissivity of transmitted light is applied to a plurality of glucose solutions of different concentrations. A calibration curve is prepared from the plurality of resulting light transmissivities and the plurality of glucose concentrations and a measured blood sugar level obtained by a blood sugar level measuring machine is compared with the calibration curve to perform the correction of the blood sugar level measuring machine or the like. Since the glucose concentration of the calibration curve can be changed within the range of solubility of the glucose, the highly reliable calibration curve can be obtained to correct the blood sugar level measuring machine.
