PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centrifuge capable of setting various rotors different in the maximum allowable number of rotations and capable of perfectly and certainly preventing the over-rotation of each of the rotors to be rotated within the maximum allowable number of rotations even if any single trouble state is generated. SOLUTION: This centrifuge is constituted of a motor drive device 3 for feeding rotary energy to a motor 2 for rotationally driving the rotor 1, first and second sensors 5 and 15 for outputting signals for measuring the kind code and the actual number of rotations of the rotor, a sensor 50 for detecting the energy fed to the motor from the rotor drive device 3, a first and a second cutting-off devices 10 and 17 mutually arranged in series with respect to a control feed passage for rotary energy to cut-off the feed of rotary energy from the motor drive device 3 to the motor 2, a first processor 8 for controlling the motor drive device 3 and outputting a cutting-off signal to the first cutting- off device 10 and a second processor 16 for outputting a cutting-off signal to the second cutting-off device 17.
