PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a good conveyance control characteristic for a recording medium by a method wherein an initial value of a control parameter is calculated based on detection data and the control parameter is dynamically varied corresponding to the detection data. SOLUTION: There is disclosed an inkjet recorder that records an image on a recording medium having a predetermined width by moving a recording head having arranged thereon ink ejection elements in a main scanning direction different from the arrangement direction of the ink ejection elements and conveying the recording medium in a sub-scanning direction different from the main scanning direction. The inkjet recorder comprises a conveyance means for conveying the recording medium, a discriminating means for discriminating the kind of the recording medium, and a control parameter changing means for changing the content of the control parameter for conveying the recording medium based on the result obtained by discriminating by means of the discriminating means.
