PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a chucking apparatus for transferring a base stock in a heading and forming machine in which the opening/closing timing of chuck arms and the adjustment of the opening degree of a chuck are set simply and easily. SOLUTION: The main body 15 of the chuck provided with an elevating and lowering rod 22 for making the clamp and release of a base stock perform by making a pair of the chuck arms 25, 26 open or close is supported by a supporting frame 13 which is movably supported by a fixing member 11. Above an intermediate frame 14 which is movably arranged between the fixing member 11 and the supporting frame 13, a rocker arm 28 the one end of which is linked to the upper part of the lowering rod 22 through a link member 27 and the other end of which is extended on the side of the fixing member 11 is rockably provided. A servomotor 30 provided with a vertical screw shaft 29 is provided on the fixing member 11 and screwed on the vertical screw shaft 29 vertically movably, and a movable body 31 which is linked to the other end part of the rocker arm 28 is provided. The movable body 31 is vertically moved at arbitrary timing and by arbitrary amount by controlling the rotation of the vertical screw shaft 29 with the servomotor 30 and the rocker arm 28 is reciprocally rocked at optional timing and by optional amount.
