PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating waste water containing substances to be oxidized such as various organic substances, ammonia, hydrazine and a treating apparatus suitable for carrying out the method. SOLUTION: The waste water is subjected to electrolysis treatment in a plurality of electrolytic reactors 3, 6 utilizing conductive diamond electrodes 11, 11. The water which has been treated in the electrolytic reactor 3 is subjected to gas-liquid separation in a gas-liquid separation apparatus 4 and subsequently is treated by being allowed to flow through the electrolytic reactor 6.
