PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality detection device and abnormality detection method for a game machine detecting execution of an abnormal clear process or possibility of the execution. SOLUTION: In the case that a clear signal is inputted from a clear switch 40 when a power source device 30 is turned on to start operation, a controller 10 executes a clear process clearing information stored in a storage device 20. In the case that the clear signal is not inputted, the controller 10 executes a power recovery process. When a voltage of an output power source of the power source device 30 becomes less than a power failure voltage (a value larger than an operation stop value of the controller 10 by a prescribed value), and when a power failure signal is inputted, the controller 10 executes a power failure process. When a control signal is inputted in a state that the voltage of the output power source of the power source device 30 is not less than the power failure voltage, the controller 10 detects abnormality, and outputs an abnormal clear sound command signal to a sound generation controller 51.
