<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a food capable of imparting granular texture such as a rice grain, and especially, when the applied food is a frozen dessert, the frozen dessert capable of imparting the soft granular texture without being hardened by freezing. <P>SOLUTION: The granular food composition is obtained by swelling a powdery or granular dried product of alimentary yam paste having 0.21-10 mm particle diameter in water. The granular food composition is added to the food.
