PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the situation generating trouble in the output of image data from a CCD (charge-coupled device) when the CCD receives excessively intensive light. SOLUTION: In a scope unit employing the CCD having a vertical overflow drain structure, a detection circuit for detecting the voltage of the substrate terminal of the CCD is provided to the CCD control part of a base end part. Further, when the substrate voltage detected in the CCD control part becomes a predetermined threshold value or less, control is performed so as to include a warning display signal in the image signal sent out to a processor unit. The threshold value is set to a value calculated by subtracting a predetermined value (e.g.; 2 V) from normal substrate voltage (e.g.; 9 V). COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
