PURPOSE: A power factor correcting circuit is provided to be capable of improving an efficiency and reducing a material cost by removing a bride diode used as a rectification circuit and making a switch element forming a current path perform a soft switch operation instead of a hard switch operation. CONSTITUTION: One end of an inductor(L1) is connected to one end of a power source, and an anode of a diode(D1) is connected to the one end of the inductor(L1). A cathode of the diode(D1) is connected to one end of a capacitor(C). A switch(Q1), a capacitor(C1) and a diode(D3) are connected in parallel between the anode of the diode(D1) and the other end of the capacitor(C1). A diode(D7) has an anode connected to the anode of the diode(D1) and a cathode connected to one end of an inductor(L2). A diode(D5) and a switch(Q3) are connected in series between the other end of the inductor(L2) and the other end of the capacitor(C). Anodes of diodes(D2,D8) are connected commonly to the other end of the power source. A cathode of the diode(D8) is connected to the cathode of the diode(D7), and a cathode of the diode(D2) is connected to the one end of the capacitor(C). A switch(Q2), a capacitor(C2) and a diode(D4) are connected in parallel between a common anode node of the diodes(D2,D8) and the other end of the capacitor(C). A diode(D6) has an anode connected to the anode of the diode(D5) and a cathode connected to the one end of the capacitor(C).
