<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airtight housing vessel for a joint of a communication cable, etc., which can keep airtightness surely without being influenced by an installation environment and can improve the workability of an assembly work, etc., and to provide a gasket used for the joint. <P>SOLUTION: This airtight housing vessel for a joint of a communication cable, etc., comprises an upper sleeve 11 and a lower sleeve 12, which are obtained by dividing a hollow vessel into upper and lower vessels and have symmetrical grooves 31 and 32 which are formed on the respective dividing surfaces facing each other and a gasket 21 fitted to the grooves 31 and 32. The gasket 21 includes a part whose cross-section vertical to the longitudinal direction thereof has a width larger than the width of the groove 32 on the lower sleeve 12 side in order to make the gasket 21 press-fitted to the groove 32 on the lower sleeve 12 side, and is held by a surface pressure between the side wall of the groove 32 on the lower sleeve 12 side and itself. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
