PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method for driving a dot matrix type PDP from which high quality display can be obtained with high brightness even when driving it by an interlaced system, and to provide a PDP device. SOLUTION: In the plasma display device which comprises display electrodes Z1, Z2,..., partitions 16 for separating each display cell, a dot matrix type AC plasma display panel 21 where the display lines are formed between all the display electrodes, and a display electrode driving circuit, and is operated in the interlaced system, the display electrodes are constituted of the odd-numbered 1st electrodes and the even-numbered 2nd electrodes, and in the odd-number field, the display electrode driving circuit applies scanning pulses to one side of the 1st or 2nd electrodes at the time of addressing operation, and in the even-number field, it applies the scanning pulses to the other side of the 1st or 2nd electrodes at the time of addressing operation.
