PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a taper land thrust bearing having a cooling structure capable of avoiding a serious situation such as a seizure even when a thrust load concentration to a part of a bearing pad occurs, and also to provide a rotary machine equipped therewith. SOLUTION: The taper land thrust bearing is comprised of: a taper where a plurality of bearing pads are provided at a bearing face opposite to a thrust disc of a rotation axis in the radial direction, the bearing pad is lubricated with bearing oil respectively, and a bearing gap becomes gradually narrower from a front end to a rear end; and a land in succession to a rear end of the taper to make a plane parallel with the thrust bearing. A passage of bearing oil is provided at the lower part along the taper and the land to cool the land and the taper by flowing of the bearing oil under the surface of the land and the taper.
