PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor for preventing fire of oils and fats, which can sense the fire of oils and fats before the occurrence, regardless of the kind of the oils and fats. SOLUTION: The gas sensor includes two gas sensing elements 3A, 3B having different sensitive ratios of a main sensitivity which corresponds to at least one gas component in a gas group containing aldehyde of carbon number 3-9 and alkane of carbon number 2-8, to a sub sensitivity which corresponds to inflammable gas other than the gas group, and a judging means 101 which judges that the oils and fats are in a heating-stage in the case a ratio of the amount of change in an output from a main gas sensing element 3A to that in the output from a sub gas sensing element 3B exceeds a set value for a prescribed set period. The main gas sensing element 3A in the two gas sensing elements 3A, 3B has a relatively large ratio of the main sensitivity to the sub sensitivity, and the sub gas sensing element 3B has a relatively small ratio of the main sensitivity to the sub sensitivity.
