A library is formed from past applications which uses symbols (A1-A4) to denote the type of input/output interfaces which have been used for searching (SCRUT), collection (COLL), compilation (COMP) and display (AFF). The application programs (X(PLF)) which would be compatible when building a modular software platform are easily selected from the shape of the symbols
