<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a conventional contents distribution system that, even if there are a plurality of information terminals at home, it is not possible to share the contents among the information terminals because the network environment is not secured, and therefore, there is a serious problem in the convenience in using the contents and in the load on a host unit. <P>SOLUTION: The invention is the contents distribution system for transmitting/receiving contents by utilizing a transmission line, and the system has a use condition management part 46 for managing the use condition of the contents in a main terminal 21 and a sub terminal 22. When a request for using the contents is received from the sub terminal 21, the right to use the contents and the use condition of the contents are collated. The sub terminal 21 is permitted to use the contents only when the use condition of the contents satisfies the use condition specified by the right to use the contents.
