The marker post is fitted with a connector (2) of a malleable material between its above ground (1) and below ground (3) sections, the latter being set in concrete (4). In the event of a vehicle colliding with the post the connector bends and absorbs much of the force. It stays in the bent position to avoid damaging the vehicle or persons when the pressure on it is released, and it is replaced with a new one to set the post back in an upright position.
