<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably maintain a transmission quality corresponding to a channel within a target range in an optical multiplex communication system and an optical multiplex communication control method for transmitting a multiplexed optical signal. <P>SOLUTION: A receiving part is provided with a transmission quality detecting part 10 for measuring and sending transmission quality information corresponding to the channel in accordance with a request from a transmitting part and the transmitting part is provided with a variable light attenuating part 5 for controlling an optical signal level corresponding to the channel, an optical level setting part 1 for controlling the variable light attenuating part 5 corresponding to a setting value, a setting control part 2 for adding the setting value to the optical level setting part 1 corresponding to a setting request and a setting protecting part 3 for sending the setting request to the setting control part 2. Then, the setting protecting part 3 sets the number of protection stages concerning a state change to send the setting request such that the transmission quality information can be settled within the target transmission quality range and when the transmission quality exceeds the target transmission quality range continuously for the number of protection stages, the attenuation quantity of the variable light attenuating part 5 is changed and set. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
