PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle motor capable of assuring electric continuity between a shaft and an inner ring of a ball bearing to discharge the static electricity on a recording disc to a motor base. SOLUTION: The spindle motor is used for a driving device of a recording disc such as a hard disc. The outside diameterϕs1 of a shaft 4 is smaller than the inside diameterϕb of the inner rings 8A<SB>2</SB>and 8B<SB>2</SB>of ball bearings 8A and 8B, so that the shaft 4 contacts the inner rings 8A<SB>2</SB>and 8B<SB>2</SB>, thus continuity is assured.
