PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping device with high buckling strength and capable of keeping uniform finishing quality and expected damping performance by easily and high-precisely assembling plates under a fixed relative position. SOLUTION: A first space holding member 11 for keeping a space between two side plates 1 and 1 on the first joining member 4 side and an intermediate plate 2 are situated in fragments in the longitudinal direction of the plate in proximity to one of channel steels 3 to fix and intercouple the two side plates 1 and 1 at two ends in the direction of the width of the plate. The first distance member 11 integrally fixes the two side plates 1 and 1 and an intermediate plate 2 through a coupling tool 13 extending through the first space holding member 11 in the direction of a plate thickness and a second space holding member 12 for keeping a space between two slide plates 8 and 8 on the second joining member 9 side are situated in fragments in the longitudinal direction of the plate in proximity to the other channel steel 3, the slide plates 8 and 8 are integrally formed in a fixed manner through a fastening tool 14 extending through the second space holding member 12 in the direction of a plate thickness.
