The instrument consists of telescopic rod (1) in two or three sections, made from metal or a synthetic material, having a handle (3) of rubber or plastic on one end and a clamp (2) of metal or synthetic material on the other. The clamp is positioned at some 135 degrees to the rod and is designed to grip a piece of biodegradable paper or cardboard which is held under the dog's rear as it defecates. The droppings, together with the paper or card, can be dropped into a drain, gutter or the nearest bin.
