PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device easily recognizing the altitude of a road in the periphery of a vehicle position. SOLUTION: This navigation device is equipped with a position measuring means measuring the present position of a vehicle; a map data storage means in which map data containing altitude data is stored; a display means displaying a map image based on the map data; and a display control means reading out the map data corresponding to a vehicle position measured with the position measuring means from the map data storage means, and displaying on the display means, and the display control means has a gradation means conducting gradation according to the altitude data of the road, when the road is displayed on the display means.
