PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a damage of a latching piece formed in a connecting part of a leader tape at rewinding a tape in a single reel type magnetic tape cartridge provided with the leader tape to an extension end of a magnetic tape. SOLUTION: A single reel 2 is arranged in a main body case 1, and the leader tape 4 is connected to the extension end of the magnetic tape 3 wound around the reel 2. The retainers 12, 12 are formed to an upper and a lower edges respectively of a connecting part 10 provided in an idle end of the leader tape 4. A stopper 13 which catches the latching pieces 12, 12 and prevents the leader tape 4 from overwinding is provided in a tape pullout part 5 of the main body case 1, and thickness of an upper and a lower latching pieces 12, 12 are thicker than the other parts of the leader tape 4.
