PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten dimensions in the axial direction of an index device having an inner Geneva type dividing mechanism, to restrain deflection and torsion of an output shaft and to improve dividing precision. SOLUTION: This index device is constituted by building the inner Geneva type dividing mechanism made of a cam groove wheel and a rotating cam roller in a main body housing, constituting the cam wheel of a wheel part and an output shaft part integrated with it and axially supports the cam groove wheel on the main body housing by a large diametrical wheel part outer periphery and the output shaft part. It is possible to shorten the output shaft as it is axially supported even on a wheel part outer periphery and to improve rigidity of a supporting structure as it is axially supported in a large diameter.
