<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an optimum environment in compliance with a user need to be easily provided through interaction in a dialog format that is easily understood by a user when building up a print system. <P>SOLUTION: A data processing device 101 functions as a source of supplying image information or a control unit of a printer. A video controller 103 receives from a printer engine 105 information on environmental changes and internal status changes, and executes calibration in accordance with a command given by a panel portion 104 or the data processing device 101. The printer engine 105 forms a latent image on a surface of a PC drum based on raster data supplied from the video controller 103, and transfers and fuses that latent image onto a recording medium to record the image. Upon installation of a driver, device configuration information, setting information, and the like of the printer is acquired, and the users' need in the existing device configuration is optimized by simply answering questions in the dialog format that is easily understandable by the user. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
