<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a power supply system capable of supplying power in correspondence with load power to solve problems that in small-scale power demand in households and the like, load greatly fluctuates; therefore, if generating equipment, such as a fuel cell, and a storage battery are used together with an electric power system, the rise characteristics of the fuel cell are insufficient for a rapid fluctuations in load and the fuel cell is exposed to undue stress, and that the fuel cell generates power regardless of the load fluctuation and this shortens the cell life. <P>SOLUTION: Supply current or supply power to a plurality of loads is detected, and the result of the detection is fed back to a controller. The controller detects the state of power generation by the fuel cell and the state of operation of a power converter, and exercises control so that required power demanded by the load devices is generated and supplied. Further, the controller estimates the fluctuation in power demand in each load, and exercises control so that required power is ensured.
