<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable symbol timing detecting method. <P>SOLUTION: The delay detection of an input base band signal x(n) is calculated by v(n)=x(n)x*(n-N). The symbol decision error of the delay detection output v(n) is calculated by e(n)=v(n)-d(n) (d(n) is the symbol decision value of v(n)).
